Use Cases
Save Results to the Same Workspace
Keep your results next to your data, with names you'll recognize, and find them again later.
Every chat saves its results in your project, right next to your data. Tell Drylab what to call each file, and, in the web app, ask it to keep a copy in Project Files when you want to reuse it in other chats.
When to use it
- You'll come back to this analysis next week and want to find the DE table without scrolling through the chat.
- You want to reuse a filtered or annotated object in another chat instead of redoing the work.
- You need files with clear names to send to your PI or put in a paper's supplement.
- You want a list of everything an analysis produced, with paths.
Prompt examples
Name every output (web app):
Run a paired DE of tumor vs normal (paired by patient). Save the DE table as de_tumor_vs_normal.csv and the volcano plot as volcano.pdf, then save a copy of de_tumor_vs_normal.csv into this project's Project Files folder so I can reuse it in other chats. Finish by listing every file you saved with its full path.Keep an object for later chats (web app):
Save the filtered object as pbmc_filtered.h5ad in Project Files so I can reuse it in other chats.Pick the formats you need:
Save the UMAP as umap_by_cluster.png at 300 dpi and as umap_by_cluster.svg, and the cluster marker table as markers_by_cluster.xlsx with one sheet per cluster.Take stock at the end:
List every file you saved in this chat with its path, and say in one line what each one contains.Steps
| Web app | Desktop App | |
|---|---|---|
| Each chat's results | The chat's folder under History in your project, in the Vault | The chat's folder under History in your project folder, on your computer |
| Inside that folder | The notebook note.ipynb, plus figures, tables, data and scripts folders | The same |
| Files to reuse in other chats | Ask Drylab to save a copy in Project Files | Leave them in History, or copy them where you like with your file manager |
Small analyses may save files directly in the chat's folder instead of the subfolders.
- In your request, say what to save, what to call it and in which format, for example "save the DE table as de_tumor_vs_normal.csv". Drylab saves it in this chat's folder under History.
- To reuse a file in other chats, add "save a copy in this project's Project Files folder". A copy in Project Files is easy to find in the
@picker from any chat in the project. - When the answer comes, click a file name in it to open the file beside the chat.
- To see all the chat's files, click the folder icon (Show files) at the top right of the chat. Switch the list between Tree and File Type to find a figure or a table quickly. See Notebook and Files Panel.
- To find them later, open Vault. The All list shows each file with its Project and Location: the copy shows Project Files, and the chat's own files show their folder, such as
tablesorfigures. Under Projects, open your project, then History and the chat's folder. See Find and Open Files.
- In your request, say what to save, what to call it and in which format. Drylab saves it as a normal file in this chat's folder under
History, inside your project folder on your computer. - When the answer comes, hover a file path in it and click Open in file explorer to see the file in its folder.
- In the chat's files panel, click Show in folder next to any file. The File tree in the left sidebar shows the new files under
Historyas soon as they're saved. - To use a result elsewhere, copy it with Finder, File Explorer or your file manager. It's already on your computer, so there's nothing to download. See Work with Local Files.
Tips
- Use names you'll recognize: what it is, the comparison and the format, such as
de_tumor_vs_normal.csvorvolcano_tumor_vs_normal.pdf. Avoidresult1.csv. - Ask for the list at the end. "List every file you saved with its path" gives you a short index of the chat, with links.
- Name the chat well. In the web app, the chat's folder under History is named after the chat's original title; in the Desktop App, renaming a chat renames its folder too. See Chat History.
- If a path isn't a link, Drylab saved the file outside your project, in a temporary place. Hover it to see "Sandbox-only location (not a file in your workspace)". Ask Drylab to copy it into the project, so it's kept.
